DolWin6

Dragados Offshore, in consortium with Siemens, has carried out the engineering work (including conceptual, basic, and design engineering), procurement of equipment and materials, construction, loading, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning of the DolWin6 HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) Platform and its associated jacket.

The 900 MW capacity system consists of an offshore HVDC converter platform located in the German North Sea, and an HVDC station on land in the Emden region. The offshore converter platform transforms the energy from incoming wind turbines via 155 kV AC high-voltage cables to 320 kV high-voltage direct current, exporting it to the onshore converter station, where the energy is converted back to AC and connected to the AC high-voltage grid. The platform is connected by a bridge to the existing DolWin Beta platform.

Scope of Work: Design, supply, construction, transportation, and installation of the platform and the structure (jacket), while Siemens’ scope includes the design and supply of the HVDC equipment for both substations and the development of the onshore station. Together, the installation will be commissioned, tested, and put into operation.
