Tuesday July 18, 2017
Dragados Offshore is pleased to announce that, under his partnership agreement with Siemens, will develop, build and deliver the HVDC converter platform of DolWin6 HVDC grid connection Project.
The 900 megawatt capacity system consist of an offshore HVDC converter platform located in the German North Sea, and an HVDC onshore station in the region of Emden.
The offshore converter platform transforms power from the incoming wind turbines via 155 kV high voltage cables AC to 320kV high voltage DC, exporting it to the converter station onshore, where the power is converted back to AC and to be connected to the high voltage AC grid. The platform will be bridge-linked to the existing Dolwin beta platform
Dragados Offshore is responsible for the design, supply, construction, transportation and installation of the platform and the jacket, while the scope of work to be performed by Siemens is the design and supply of the HVDC equipment of both substations and the development of the onshore station. Jointly the installation will be commissioned, tested and put into operation.
The contract is considered a major milestone for Dragados Offshore as it strengthens its activities into platform delivery for the offshore wind industry by performing a project at the forefront of its sector, and continues to consolidate Dragados Offshore’s leading position in the offshore market.
